Rivers

In fact, the land of Barguna is surrounded by numerous rivers and canals. Barguna district is located in the basin of Padma, Meghna, Arial Khan and Madhumati rivers. The nature of Barguna depends on the river and the sea. The main rivers of the district are Payra, Bishkhali, Baleshwar and Haringhata. Besides, Khakdon, Tiakhali river, Tiakhali don, Bagirkhal, Behula river, Chakamaiya don, Nidrakhal, Amtali river etc. are the main rivers and canals of the district. There are also at least 300 natural canals in different parts of the district. The district has a total of 160 sq km of rivers which is 22 percent of the total area of ​​the district.
