Agricultural call center
A call center is a medium that mediates between any type of service provider and its customers. The experimental launch of 'Krishi Call Center' was launched in June 2012 as the first government call center in the country under the auspices of the Agriculture Information Service under the Ministry of Agriculture with the aim of disseminating state-of-the-art technology, services and information on agriculture among farmers and all those related to agriculture. The Agricultural Call Center is located at the headquarters of the Agricultural Information Service at Khamarbari, Dhaka.

 

Since June 2014, the center has officially started operations with a 5-digit short code. The activities of the center are being conducted with the support of international NGO Practical Action, Bangladesh. By calling the short call number 16123 of the Agriculture Call Center at the rate of 25 paisa per minute (excluding VAT and supplementary duty) from any operator's mobile phone, the farmers are getting immediate expert advice on any problem related to agriculture, fisheries and livestock. The service is currently being provided at the Agricultural Call Center from 18123 between 9 am and 5 pm every day except Fridays and other public holidays; Which will be further expanded in the future.
