Industry and trade

There is no large scale industrial trade center in Barguna district. However, there is a fish landing and sales center for fish processing at Patharghata Upazila Sadar under Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation. In addition, there are -

Food processing industries: 25

Riverside industries (launches, trawler body making and repair): 02.

Chemical industry (making agarbati, candle, hair oil, jordan, battery and butter oil): 10 in district headquarters

Textile cottage industry (garment making): 10 in the district headquarters.

Coir industry (rugs and bamboo products): 10

Miscellaneous industries (making sign boards, banners, gold ornaments, rings, slabs, pipes and ventilators): 19 in the district headquarters and 08 in different upazilas.
